Driver detailAlmost every golfer who walks in here can name what their 7-iron goes. Almost nobody can name what their 4-iron, 5-wood and 52-degree wedge carry on the same afternoon, in the same air, off the same ball. That missing page is where the strokes hide, and it is the first thing we build.
The degree stamped on a sole tells you almost nothing useful on its own. Two irons both marked 31 degrees can sit at different lengths, carry different heads, deliver different dynamic loft and finish eleven yards apart in the air. Sold as the same club. Played as different clubs.
So we stopped starting there. A session at Custom Loft Lab opens with measurement rather than specification: what your existing clubs actually carry, how far apart those carries sit, and which rungs of the ladder are doubled up or missing entirely. Loft, lie, length and component choices are the answer to that page. They are not the question.
It is an unglamorous way to run a fitting room. It also means the recommendation at the end can be defended with a column of numbers instead of a feeling.

Driver detailThe core of what we do. Every iron measured, spacing plotted, then lofts bent and lengths set until the rungs sit evenly.
Iron detailThe 40 yards between driver and long iron is the least mapped stretch in most bags. We map it, then fill it.
Fairway detailA hybrid only earns a slot if it lands on a rung nothing else covers. We check that before we sell you one.
Hybrid detailFull-swing carry plus the three-quarter and half numbers, because that is where wedge gapping actually lives.
Wedge detailDistance control on the ground follows the same logic: measure roll-out at set stroke lengths, then fit length, lie and head weight to it.
Putter detailLittle Rock sits around 340 feet above sea level in a climate that swings from heavy August humidity to dry, cold January mornings. That range moves carry distance by a meaningful amount, and it moves it in a direction most golfers guess wrong.
Then people drive north for a weekend and tee it up in the Ozarks at four times the elevation, wondering why every club is a half-club long. We log air density at the time of every session and correct the figures back to a common reference, so the page you take home is comparable to the page you got two summers ago.

Four stages, always in that order. Nothing gets recommended before the page is written, and nothing gets built before it has been hit.
You hit your own clubs first, on the studio monitor, with premium balls. We record carry, descent angle and dispersion for each one and note the air conditions on the sheet. No equipment is touched at this stage and nothing is on the table to buy.
About 25 minutesThose carries get drawn as rungs. Doubled-up clubs and holes in the spacing become obvious in about ten seconds once the numbers are vertical instead of scattered across a spreadsheet. This is usually the part of the session people photograph.
About 15 minutesWe pull heads, shafts and loft settings that specifically target the gaps on your page. It keeps the trial short and honest: a club either lands on the rung we need or it goes back on the rack. Nobody hits forty drivers here for the sake of it.
40 to 70 minutesAssembly happens in our own back room. Finished clubs are checked on the loft and lie machine, weighed, and re-measured against the target rung before they leave. You get the build sheet and the original ledger together.
Build lead time 5 to 10 daysNo brand pays for shelf space here and no line carries a monthly quota. If a head lands on your rung, it goes on the sheet.
I came in convinced I needed a new driver. Turns out my 3-wood and 5-wood were four yards apart and my 4-iron was doing nothing. They bent two clubs, sold me one hybrid, and my driver stayed in the bag.
The wedge session was the eye-opener. My 54 and 58 were only nine yards apart at full swing and I had a thirty yard hole under the pitching wedge. Nobody had ever shown me that on paper before.
What sold me was getting the sheet emailed with the air conditions written on it. I went back in November, we compared pages, and the numbers lined up exactly the way they said they would.
